Who is Paramadvaiti?
His original name is Ulrich Harlan, he was born in the German city of Ostercappeln on October 12, 1953. At the age of 19, he formally came into the ranks of the International Society Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), where he received the name Alanatha Dasa Brahmacari. Subsequently, he will accept the position of sannyāsī -a status of greater authority within his religious hierarchy- and finally adopt the name of Bhakti Aloka Paramadvaiti Svami.
More than thirty years ago, Mr. Harlan founded the VRINDA Mission, a religious institution that has subsidiaries in several countries of South America and Europe and from which other secondary associations derive. Although the presence of the "hare-krishnas" immediately refers to ISKCON, in reality, VRINDA has been dominating the religious market of Latin Americans. VRINDA is just an ISKCON’s branch but with no close relationship to it.
Here, on Wikipedia, the VRINDA’s Spanish-speaking followers introduce his leader in a grandiloquent manner, to say the least. None of the various "institutions" that Harlan has founded has integral support based on the authentic Vaisnava tradition. These institutions are rather a network of hidden venues for proselytizing. And although Harlan seemed a prolific writer, his works are very superficial creations, lacking the theological depth of Gaudiya Vaisnavism and deprived of academic height. His writings and thoughts include a hodgepodge of the New Age ideas and South American indigenism or shamanism.

1953. A la edad de 19 años entró formalmente a las filas de la International
Society Krishna Conciousness (ISKCON), en donde recibió el nombre de Alanatha Dasa
Brahmacari. Posteriomente, aceptará la posición de sannyasi, un status de
mayor autoridad dentro de su jerarquía religiosa, y adoptará al fin el nombre
de Bhakti Aloka Paramadvaiti Svami.
Hace más de treinta
años, el señor Harlan fundó la misión VRINDA, una institución religiosa que
cuenta con filiales en varios países de Sudamérica y Europa y de la que derivan
otras asociaciones secundarias. Si bien la presencia de los “hare-krishnas”
remite de inmediato a ISKCON, en realidad VRINDA ha venido dominando el mercado
religioso de los latinoamericanos. VRINDA es sólo una ramificación de ISKCON,
pero no guarda estrecha relación con la misma.
Aquí, en Wikipedia, los seguidores de
habla hispana de VRINDA presentan a su líder de manera grandilocuente, por
decir lo menos. Ninguna de las varias “instituciones” que ha fundado Harlan
cuenta con un soporte íntegro basado en la auténtica tradición vaisnava. Tales
instituciones son más bien una red de sedes disimuladas para la captación
proselitista. Y aunque Harlan pareciera un prolífico escritor, sus obras son
creaciones muy superficiales, carentes de la profundidad teológica propia del
vaisnavismo gaudiya y privadas de altura académica. Sus escritos incluyen una
mezcolanza de ideas de la New Age y del indigenismo o chamanismo sudamericano.
